2 Map Development

Learning map models are a unique key feature of the Dynamic Learning Maps® (DLM®) Alternate Assessment System and drive the development of all other components. For a description of the process used to develop the map models, including the detailed work necessary to establish and refine the DLM maps in light of the Common Core State Standards and the needs of the student population, see Chapter 2 of the 2014–2015 Technical Manual—Integrated Model (Dynamic Learning Maps Consortium, 2016a).

During the 2019–2020 year, a review was conducted by external panelists of the writing neighborhoods in the English language arts map. A full description of this event, including the results of the review, will be included in a subsequent technical manual.
